Thirukodithanam Divyadesam - Amirtha Narayanan Temple - Pancha Pandava Kshetrams Built By Sahadevan - The History
It is strongly believed that the Devotees who worship Arputha
Narayanan here and stay just for a Kadigai – 24 Minutes will get rid of all their sins and
attain Moksham. The main Sanctum Sanctorum is a Circular Shaped one – a typical
kerala style temple, where there is a shrine for Lord Narasimhar also. Hence there are 2
Flag Posts – Dwajasthambams – here for both of the Deities. On southern side of the
temple premise, Devotees can also worship Lord Ganesha and Lord Dhakshina Murthy
in their separate shrines with no doors and just the holes on a wooden plank so that
to have the darshan. Sahadevan, the youngest of Pancha Pandavas came here after the
Gurukshetra War to worship the Almighty. He wanted to install an Idol of Lord Maha
Vishnu here and searched for a stone. He didn’t get any stones around the place and at
last he decided to immolate himself as a stone for the Idol. To acknowledge the
adherent devotee, to a big surprise, at last an Idol of Arputha Narayanan appeared in
front of him. Hence the Moolavar is being worshipped as “Arputha Narayanan”.
Arputham in Tamil means Miracle. The temple is also called as “Sahadevan Kshetram”.
The Power of Ekadasi Vrdha – Once a King named Rukmangathan from solar Dynasty
ruled this place, who was an adherent devotee of Lord Maha Vishnu. He used to
observe Ekadasi Vradha dedicatedly. He had an Excluisve Flower Garden where he
plant very rare flowers for his poojas to Lord Maha Vishnu. By knowing this Indran sent
some devas to steal the flowers. Rukmanganathan came to know that the flowers were
missing every day. One Day the security of the Garden caught the Devas while they
were stealing the flowers and brought them to the King. The King enquired and came to
that they were Devas and as instructed by Indran only they had been stealing the
flowers. Instead of getting angry, the King became happy and told the Devas that he
was ready to send the flowers to Indran every day. But as Devas were touched by the
Humans, they lost all their powers and unable to go back to Devalogam. King requested
Paranthaman and he was asked to give the benefit of Ekadasi Vradha to Devas to get
back their powers here in the temple. These incidents were happened within a period
of Kadigai – 24 Minutes. Hence the temple is being worshipped as “Thirukadithanam”. Temple
Vimanam is Punyakoti Vimanam and the temple Pushkarni is being worshipped as
Bhoomi Theertham. |
