Thirupuliyur Divyadesam - Kuttanadu Mayapiran Temple - Pancha Pandava Kshetram Worshipped By Bheeman
After installing the Idol of Lord Maha Vishnu in
Thirusengundrur Divyadesam, Dharma Rajan proceeded towards here to Thirupuliyur
Divyadesam. There he came to know that Paranthaman gave His prathyaksham to
Sabtha Rishis. Earlier there was a King Named Vrushadharbi, son of Emperor Sibi ruled
this region. Once His entire kingdom suffered a severe drought and famine. King too
was suffered from a severe stomach pain due to some curse. He was in a deep trouble.
During that crucial period, Saptha Rishis made their visit to that kingdom. King
requested them that he would offer a donation and in turn they should help him and
his kingdom to get relieved from the curse. But Rishis rejected his offer and told him
that if they would do that, they would be committing a sin and they went away But
King made a trick and put many gold coins inside the fruits and sent through his
messengers. But with the help of Gnadhrusti, Rishis came to know his trick and rejected
his offerings. By seeing Saptha Rishis neglecting his offerings, the King got felt insulted.
He was angered and decided to punish the Rishis for which he performed an Yagna and
an Evil named Krithyai had come out of that yagna. He ordered the Evil to kill all the
rishis and also informed that if she fails she will definitely be killed by the Rishis as they
are more powerful. By seeing an Evil tring to Kill, Rishis got frightened. They in
turn surrendered themselves to Paranthaman for the asylum. Pleased Almighty sent
Indra Bhagwan to kill the Evil so that to save the Rishis. Indiran disguised himself as a
Tiger and destroyed the Evil. Paranthaman then gave prathyaksham to Rishis.
They realized that Only Paranthaman is Real and All other are Just Illusion – Maya.
Hence they worshipped Moolavar as Mayapiran and requested the Almighty to
bless as they got. As Indiran came to rescue the Rishis in the form of Tiger, the place is
known as Puliyur. In Tamil Puli means Tiger. Utsavam on Thiruvonam Star Every Month
and Janmashtami in the Tamil Month of Avani are the festivals here The Temple Tank is
Pragnasaras and Poonjunai Theertham. Vimanam is Purusothama Vimanam, Purushasuktha Vimanam. |
