Thirunindravur Divyadesam - Sree Bhakthavatsala Perumal Temple - Bhaktharaavi Perumal Temple
It is very unique that this is the One
and Only Divyadesam on Which there were No Mangalaasaasanam were done by any of the Azhwars, but still it’s a Divyadesam. Once when Thirumangai Azhwar visited
here, the Almighty had not noticed and not given importance to him. Hence
Thirumangai did not hymn any pasurams on Him. But The temple is being called as
Divyadesam only when at least one of the Azhwars visit a temple and hymn in praise of
the Almighty with at least One Pasuram. Hence Thirunindravur is not suppose to be a
Divyadesam. But when Thirumangai left from Thirunindravur, Goddess realized that it
would make a bad impact on the Almighty in the forthcoming days and asked Him to
search for Thirumangai Alwar to make him to hymn some pasurams on Him, which made
the Almighty to search and at last find Thirumangai in Thirukadalmallai Divyadesam.
By seeing the Thirumangai Azhwar there Thirukadalmallai, the Almighty appeared in
the mind of Thirumangai. To a Big Surprise, Thirumangai Azhwar who was actually
worshipping Sthala Sayana Perumal of Thirukadalmallai Divyadesam, was actually seeing
the Almighty of Thirunindravur Bhakthavatsala Perumal Temple and made one
pasuram. Having achieved the objective, Almighty returned back. But Goddess was
not fully happy as other Azhwars made Mangalasasanam on other Divyadesams with
more than one pasuram where as Thirumangai made only one on Thirunindravur. She
therefore forced the Almighty to go back to Azhwar to get some more pasurams on
Him. At that time Thirumnagai was in Thirukkannapuram, where he again saw
Bhakthavatsal an Almighty in his mind where he was actually seeing
Thirukannapuram Divyadesam and made one more pasuram. Thus Thirunindravur
Temple became Divyadesam with Two Pasurams hymned by Thirumangai Alwar. The Legend for the Name - Once there was a dispute between Saivism and Samanam to
know who is superior. They both made a challenge that both of them will light a wick and
float them on the Coovam river. The wick lightened by Saivaites got more brighten and stopped here. Wick means “Thiri” in Tamil hence the name Thiri Nindra Oor. Nindra
means stopped. Oor means place. Later it is became as Thirunindravur. |
