Thiruneermalai Divyadesam - Sree Neervanna Perumal Temple Blessing in His All Four Postures
It’s the
One and Only Divyadesam where the Almighty is Blessing in His ALL Four Blessing Forms
Standing, Walking, Sitting and Sleeping Postures. ( Azhwar praises as Nindran,
Nadanthan, Irunthan and Kidanthan) Thirumangai Azhwar refers this Thiruneermalai to
four other Divya Desams which are Thirukkovilur, Thiruvali, Thirunaraiyur and Thirukkudanthai while showering praises on Neervanna Perumal Temple.
In Thirunaraiyur the Almighty is blessing in His Standing Posture. In Thiruvali in His Sitting Posture as Narasimhar. In Thirukkudanthai in
Reclining Posture as Sarangapani. In Thirukovilur in Walking Posture as
Thrivikrama, when He covered the entire world. But all His Four Blessing Postures can be
worshipped together here in Thiruneermalai Divyadesam Neervanna Perumal Temple. Bhoothath Azhwaar compares
this Divyadesam to Srirangam and Tirumala Tirupathi. It’s the one of the two oldest
temples among the 108 Divyadesams and the other one is Singavelkundram. Besides
Thiruneermalai is the Only Divyadesam where Lord Narasimha is blessing as Shantha
Narasimhar and also believed that Lord Narasimha gave darshan to Arjuna when he
performed Ashwamedha Yagam. Thiruneermalai is one of the Eight Mukthi Sthalams,
worshipped as Swayamvyaktha Kshetras, the set of holy temples where Lord Maha
Vishnu manifested Himself, Avirbhava and the remaining Kshetras are Srirangam,
Tirupathi, Saalagramam, Thiru Naimisaarinyam, Sreemushnam, Pushkaram and Thiru
Naarayanpuram. Once when Thirumangai came here to worship the Almighty, he was
stopped by a heavy rain and flood. He was not able to reach the temple and stayed in a
hilltop till the rain stops, which took nearly Six months. The hill still exists and is being
called as Thirumangaipuram. In Thiru Neermalai Divyadesam the Almighty is
blessing in His 3 Forms as viz Sitting, Sleeping and Walking Postures atop of the hill and
in His Standing Posture in the temple at the foot of the hill. Ranganathan Temple is on
the top of the hill with 250 Steps. Utsava Murthy of Hilltop Temple Ranganathan is blessing
only in the foothill temple. He is being taken to the Hilltop temple only for 3 Days in a a Year, on the First and Last Days of Brahmotsavam Festival and On the Day of Panguni Uthiram.
Utsava Murthy is being taken up to the Hilltop temple to be alongside of the Moolavar. |
