Pancha Narasimha Kshetrams in sirkazhi, Tamilnadu
A group of Five Temples located in Seerkazhi Familiarly known as Thirunangur, where Lord Narasimhar Blessing in His Five forms are Thirukurayalur Ugra Narasimhar, Thirumangaimadam Veera Narasimhar, Thirunagari Yoga Narasimhar and Jwala Narasimhar and Thiruvali Lakshmi Narasimhar. Thirumangai Alwar praised all the Five Narasihars as
“Ugram Veeram Mahavishnum Jwalantham Sarvathomukham Nrisimham beeshanam bhadram mrithyor mrithyu namamyaham".
Thirumangai Alwar was born as Kaliyan and he became the brave soldier in the Chola Dynasty. Because of his braveness, Chola Emperor sworn him as “Thirumangai Mannan” for the Village called “Thiruvaali”. He fell in love with Kumudhavalli and to marry her, as she stated, he fed 1008 people every day in the place known as “Mangaimadam” to embrace Vaishnavam. Then married Kumudhavalli and later became “Thirumangai Alwar”, one among the 12 Alwars, who are the incarnations of Lord Maha Vishnu.
Ugram refers to the Ugra Narasimha Perumal blessing in Thirukkurayalur, located about 5 kms from Sirkazhi. This is the birth place of Thirumangai. Thayar blessing as Amirthavalli Nachiyar.
Veeram refers to Veera Narasimha Perumal in Mangaimadam, which was the Headquarters of Neelan, later became Thirumangai Azhwar, when he was ruling a small kingdom known as Thiruvaali under the Chola Dynasty. This is the holy place where offered food to 1008 people every day for an year by Thirumangai to embrace Vaishanvism as requested by Kumudhavalli so that to marry her, at Mangai Madam, which is about 10 K.M. from Sirkali, on the way to Poompuhar.
"Mahavishnum" refers to Yoga Narasimhar who is behind the Moolavar Kalyana Ranganathar at Thirunagari, which is located about 8 K.M. from Sirkali. This is one of 108 Divya Desams and 40 Cholanadu Divyadesams worshipped as Thiruvaali- Thirunagari, a Holy Place where the “Thirumandhiram” was taught to Thirumangai Azhwar by the Almighty Himself, the temple is being worshipped as equal as Badrinath.
Jwalatham – Hiranya Narasimhar in Thirunagari behind the Shrine of Thirumangai Alwar. Lakshmi Narasimhar in Thiruvaali who is Blessing under Ashtaatchara Vimanam. It’s a Lakshmi Narasimha Kshetram. The temple is located about 6 Km from Seerkazhi on the way to Thiruvenkadu Budhan Sthalam. Both Thiuvaali and Thirunagari are being worshipped as One Divyadesam as Thirumangai Alwar praises as one temple in all his Pasurams. Moolavar is Blessing as Lakshmi Narasimhar ad Utsavar as Thiruvaali Manvaalan. As Lord Narasimhar had embraced Lakshmi – Thiru here, henece the name “Thiruvaali”
Azhwar praised the Almighty as "Jwalantham Sarvathomukham" refers to the Hiranya Narasimhar behind the shrine of Thirumangai Azhwar at Thirunagari. Lakshmi Narasimhar is blessing in Thiruvaali, located on the way to Mangai Madam from Sirkali, where Lakshmi Narasimhar with Goddes Lakshmi on His Right Lap, an Unique Posture as in mormally Narasimhar holds Lakshmi only on His Left Lap. Thiru means Lakshmi. Vazhi means resides. Hence the name Thiru Vazhi. New Moon days and Swathy Star are auspecious to perform pujas to Lord Narasimhar.
The Unique feature is that Only here in Thiruvaali Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar Holds Lakshmi on His Right Lap where as normally He Holds her on left Side. In Thiruvalanthai Temple Varaha Perumla Hold Lakshmi on His Right Side. This is the temple nearer to Thirukadalmallai Divyadesam on the way to Light House, where as in Thiruvidanthai Divyadesam Varaha Perumal Holds Lakshmi on HIS left Side. |
